I think it's done to get the so called mental edge, but it can back fire in any sport just as well as hockey. I agree, that it took guts for a hockey player such as Daniel to do what he did and set things straight. If only more sportsmen were like him.

Comment on Summer #6

Wow, so there is other people out there that thinks like me. I've been debating about the negative influence that reality television has on the minds of the people that watch those shows. Now look around you and see that there are peoples lives which are centered around the idea that was sold to us. I say, lets practice the idea of humankindness. It pains me to see how people treat each other. Does anyone ever think of those who are affected by this life style in such a way which makes them feel beaten down by the world because all they want to do is spread compassion? I hope with in my life time, as well as yours, that we see a change that effect the world in a whole, using compassion as our tools.

Be the change you want in the world...

Ghandi

Thank you,
Alex

Comment on Summer #2

Hi Owen,
What a wonderful and loving tribute to your friend 'Carolyn'. First, many are addicted to negativity just as they are to anything else. They are used to the chemicals that their body produces when they think negative thoughts, and so they crave more of those chemicals. Secondly, I think sometimes people enjoy hearing bad news stories so they can think "wow, I'm better than that" or "too bad for so-and-so" or "what a poor sucker" (you get the idea). It makes them feel better about themselves.
It is very easy to counteract negativity, once you have a basic awareness of your thoughts. We can all choose to think a new thought at any time - we are not slaves to our thoughts.
That's all from me. Thought you might enjoy my post today entitled "Promoting Kindness Towards Computers." :) (http://hovergirl.wordpress.com/2008/11/15/kindness-towards-computers/)

Comment on August 02 Article

Thanks for this article. You've nicely tied together a number of things that help us understand WHY certain things work. The smile you give your friends, family or customers. The reason the positive mantra produces results.
What many have thought was hocum turns out to be backed by science!

Comment on HKP Newsletter Article #4

You have out done yourself again.
