Human Kindness ... on Love
Human Kindness ... on Love
By W. Owen Thornton
Always embrace love. This is the human kindness thing to do. Let go of any fear it might instill. Fear of love suggests many things. You might be overwhelmed by it. If this is the case enmesh yourself in it. Accept it. Revel in it. Be a fool for it. It is too much. It can be too much ... and that is what is wonderful about love.
If you are afraid that it is too good to last, cease these thoughts immediately. It is too good to last, but do not dwell on it. To dwell on it means seeing its end in your mind ... seeing its demise. You cannot predict the future. Accept the love in the now. Even thinking about it ending means you may bring that about. For we have learned that something seen is as though it has happened ... something envisioned is as though it has happened.
If you believe you are afraid of love, you may be anticipating the heartache at the end, should the love not last. Again, let go of these thoughts. Thinking of the potential heartache means you are living the potential heartache, having the same thoughts and feelings as though it is happening. But this cannot be, can it? For at this moment you are in love. It has not ended. Nor may it ever end. Treat love as though it will last forever. This is both an emotional and a logical response. It is emotional because "forever" is our hope for love. It is logical because if we envision an end, we feel it and if we feel it we may bring it about and if we bring it about we will be the masters of love's destruction and we never crave this, even in the absurd.
And so when you have the chance, always strive to create love. Build it. Nurture it. Enhance it. Care for it. Love requires attention. Love requires giving of yourself. Love means observing someone else, learning about them because you desire to learn about them and doing special things for them that they would desire. Doing things for others that you would desire to be done for you is us pretending about being in love ... is us attempting to demonstrate our love ... is about us trying but failing to demonstrate our love. There is some nobility in the effort, but there would be more if you gave them that which they most desire because you knew them so well ... loved them so hard.
Human kindness works like this too. It is not about doing that for others that you would like done for you. It is about doing for others as you know they want done for them. This takes time. This takes care. This takes observation.
And if others see you doing things for them, they more likely attempt to do important things for others. Human kindness imitates love. Human kindness is an act of love.
Love hard. Love honest. Love decently. And the law says that if you do these things, they will come back to you. Sometimes via the most convoluted method you may not even understand or comprehend that the weave of life has repaid you 1,000-fold for your initial act of love ... but that is how the universe rewards us. This is a universal and Christian concept. It must be. The Great I Am, is ... love.
God Bless
And take care of one another out there eh?
And love one another. Practice human kindness wherever you are.
