Hug a Teddy Bear

This is my boy Angus, dressed in an XL Toronto St. Pats hockey jersey.  (He's a big boy!)  Like me, he is a beleaguered Toronto Maple Leafs fan ... maybe now you know why I need and practice human kindness! You also might recognize the outline of our logo if you look closely.

Hug a Teddy Bear ... and Find Human Kindness

Adults like to play a game called I'm mature. How dumb is that? We think we're too mature for things like Teddy Bears or Dolls or you know ... kid's stuff. Teddy bears should be a part of everyone's daily routine. They have ample uses, yes, even for grown-ups! In fact, I think I'm going to write an essay on that for an upcoming e-newsletter ... which you can sign up for by the way by emailing me at owen.thornton@sympatico.ca ! I send out the newsletter once a month (or I try to ... university school work sometimes gets in the way!). The e-newsletter is like a little reminder to folks that, even if you don't read it, says, "Hey! I value being kind and this newsletter reminds me to do more of the right things in life."

So, sometime today, if you have children, or your own teddy bear or even if you have to go next door to borrow a neighbour child's teddy bear, give one a hug. If you do the check in, I promise you'll feel better even if you don't want to do it because you're all grown up!  The check-in?  See what number you feel on a scale of one to ten before you hug the bear. Hug him or her. Then see what number you feel after you've hugged the bear.  The number is bound to go up (even if you do have to overcome the "I feel stoopid factor"), and high numbered people are more likely to remember to be kind ... and maybe share a hug with a friend. Touch is vitally important for successful daily living!

God Bless and practice some human kindness today, eh!

Owen

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.  I'm terrible at updating the incoming comments.  Sure, you can always forward my "stuff" to anyone.  It's the human kindness thing to do.
